Ms. Veronica Williams, Principal

Veronica Williams is a veteran educator in DeKalb County, Veronica Williams completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia, a Masters Degree in Early Childhood from Georgia State University, an Educational Specialist Degree from Brenau University, and Leadership Degree from Kennesaw State University.

Ms. Williams is a National Board Certified teacher.Ms. Williams began her teaching career as a fourth grade teacher at Montgomery Elementary School. She joined Chesnut in 2009 as Assistant Principal, and was appointed Principal in 2012.  She has served as a DeKalb County Charter ProCorps member, an instructor for DeKalb Numeracy Initiative, and a math frameworks contract writer for the Georgia Department of Education.

More recently, Ms. Williams has worked with DeKalb County Professional Learning Department to help provide internship opportunities for aspiring leaders. Ms. Williams has also conducted workshops on Data Studies for Continuous School Improvement in DeKalb and Cobb counties.


Mr. Lloyd McFarlane, Assistant Principal

Lloyd McFarlane is Chesnut’s Assistant Principal.  Having served field of education since 1997as a classroom teacher, instructional lead teacher, and as an administrator, Mr. McFarlane appreciates the importance of a strong bond between home and school.  Each year he looks forward to working with a community of capable students, supportive and caring parents, and a determined staff who strive on a daily basis to teach our girls and boys the importance of strength of character and leadership as they work to become college ready.
 As Chesnut’s administration is committed to providing an environment where student achievement is a top priority, Mr. McFarlane encourages all Chesnut parents to continue an active role in their child’s education.  By working together, he believes we can ensure that every Chesnut student is set on a path of academic excellence.
